Print Information

Limited Edition & Artist Proofs

In contemporary art, a limited edition refers to a set number of released print of a certain piece of art.  Limited editions are just that - limited - and this is what gives them value in the fine art world.  The exclusivity or limited production of a piece is what makes it fine art, what maintains its’ integrity as fine art, and what supports its' investment value.  The images will never be re-released when they’re sold out  as this would detract from the value of the edition, disappointing our collectors, and compromising the integrity of the Photographer.  Additionally,  collectors can be assured that limited editions are a great collection and as a investment: as the availability decreases, value increase and once the edition is closed the images increases substantially because they are no longer available.   Furthermore, Artist Proofs are even more exclusive in their rarity and are only available through contacting an aFeinberg Gallery.

Giclée

Printed directly onto museum quality canvas material using quality archival inks. The canvas print is then wrapped around a stretcher frame so that the photo's edges are visible on the sides of the frame at 1.5" depths.

Metal

New medium for a new age. Metal prints represent a new art medium for preserving photos by infusing dyes directly into specially coated aluminum sheets. Because the image is infused onto the surface and not on it your images will take on an almost magical luminescence. Truly stunning detail and resolution giving a 3D or HD appearance to the photo. Standard option is the "float" mount which hangs the images on the wall appearing to float on it's own.

Facemounted Prints (Artist Proof Only)

The ultimate modern display technique. These prints are face mounted to a piece of archival acrylic. The finish creates an image full of depth and rich in color. The high gloss finish of the acrylic makes the image stand out and reveals the finest details of the print below. Since the print is fully sealed against the acrylic this mounting technique can significantly improve the archival life of the image particularly in high humidity environments.

Koa Wood...a brief background

Koa is the best known of the endemic Hawaiian woods. It is recognized world wide for it's remarkable variety of grain figure which ranges from plain to curly to deep fiddleback. The color can go from reds to chocolate browns with the sap wood sometimes even bleached white. The grain is fine and the texture medium coarse, but it is the figuring that sets Koa into a class of it's own. Each frame when ordered is carefully chosen by our  framer to best match the photo it will be going with. This is to make sure the color of the wood compliments the image perfectly!  They are then milled and hand-crafted here on Kauai.

Koa Wood Floater

A truly special way to present your Giclee, Metal or Artist Proof print. The same special Koa wood is used but instead of having the frame next to the image there is a 1/4" space between the image and the frame, thus giving the appearance of the image floating in the frame. The proper color wood is chosen to best compliment the image.

Koa Wood With Liner

Playing off the Koa wood theme this option places a 3" wide black silk liner between the print and the specially chosen Koa.  This allows a bit of breathing room between the frame and print.  A truly stunning option to any giclée, metal or facemounted print.
